Over the years the major issue in healing with members of the Body of Christ is normally not whether or not they believe God can heal, but whether He wills to heal them. Sharing on the topic of God’s will for healing always brings challenges to the human spirit, because we all know those who to the best of our understanding have made an honest effort to trust God for healing, and yet didn’t receive their healing.

There are many ways to approach this and speak to it, and possibly none of them will satisfy some. However if there is anything we as believers must hold fast to, it is the truth that our God is no respecter of persons!

I remember so strongly years ago how much this impacted me when I sincerely considered this truth. I sat at my desk one day and said aloud, “If God ever healed any person, in any time in history, He will heal today!” How can anything else be true?

Is Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today and forever? If that verse isn’t true then we may as well discard the whole Bible hadn’t we? Therefore if He healed someone two thousand years ago He will heal them today. Isn’t that just common sense? We don’t need to be great theologians to figure that out. We simply need to take God’s word and believe it is true. Is He not an eternal changeless God? Is He like shifting sand or shadows that appear and then vanish away? Or is He the solid Rock of our salvation and a strong fortress in times of trouble? Ultimately we all have to honestly assess our own real belief about these issues.

Jesus said in John 14:9 that, “he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father.” Acts tells us how “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.” This is why we can say that if you truly want to know the will of God, watch the ministry of Jesus Christ while He was on the earth.

Everywhere He went He preached the Kingdom of God and healed the sick of all their diseases. Remember, there was only one solitary time listed in scripture that defines why the sick weren’t healed (Matthew 13:58; Mark 6:6). Those passages declare that God Incarnate, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, was unable…unable…unable … to do any mighty works, because of the people’s unbelief.

In meetings today we hear people say sometimes, “If Jesus Himself were to appear before us, every need would be met, all sicknesses would disappear in His presence.” Not so. Did they do so back in Matthew 13 and Mark 6? No they didn’t. I don’t think anyone can argue that maybe Jesus wasn’t too anointed that day. Impossible!! Jesus Christ was the will of God in action, everyday, not just some days.

No, the problem wasn’t whether Jesus was willing, but the problem was a spiritual contaminate called unbelief. The very Son of God was prevented from doing what He wanted to do by the mind-sets of the people who were before Him. What an incredible thing to consider.

I tell you my friend, don’t be offended by the truth as so many are. Don’t consider this to be harsh or mean spirited. Nothing could be more wrong. No, sometimes the truth is a bitter pill to swallow, and I’ve had to swallow it many times when faced with the harsh reality of unbelief in my own life at times. I had to learn to quit blaming my failures on God or others, or the teachings of ministers. Our God is a deeply and passionately personal God, who wants you to seek Him for yourself on these matters, that He might show Himself alive to you!

Why wouldn’t He heal you today? He wants to. It’s His will to heal you today. It may take some time, and will surely take some effort, but His promise is as sure today as it has ever been, and because He is the same today as He was yesterday, His desire to touch your body as His brother and God’s son is as strong as it has ever been. He is after all a good Father, and no good father wants his children to suffer. That would be insanity. No, you must declare war on unbelief, and run it out of your land.

The antidote to the poison of unbelief is Bible faith. Begin today to feed your spirit man with giant doses of Bible faith, and watch His word and His truth burn that poison out of your system, and that sickness out of your body, in Jesus Name.
